Happy Holidays from Your Fave GL Creators!

2019 was one awesome year for the Yuri fandom. What better way to add in more love into the yuletide season but by seeing our favorite GL series celebrating the holidays, getting ready for the new year.

This year we have spotted  a few of our GL content creators posting Christmas art related to their works and here they are.

What Does The Fox Say creator Team Gaji posted a Christmas art of both Sungji and Sumin together. Sumin is wearing a Santa outfit as she was lifted by Sungji wearing a Reindeer costume.

Also, the webtoon (which is published in Korean on Kakaopage) has recently ended. You can read the series officially in English on Tappytoon in both SFW and NSFW versions.

Thai GL manga and webtoon artist Ratana Satis posted a Christmas art in her official Facebook page. Featuring the main characters from hit GL works PulseLily Love, and Lily Love 2 – Frosty Jewel

The artist has recently teased art and characters of her upcoming GL series Soul Drifters.  Speaking of Pulse, you can preorder the 6th volume right now

Artist Darunni has also posted a Christmas on her official Facebook page featuring our two lovely girls from She’s A Keeper.

She also has another ongoing webtoon series titled BABE! which you can read on WEBTOONShe’s A Keeper can be read on Webcomics.

Tan Jiu, creator of the popular Their Story / SQ Begin with Your Name series also posted a Christmas update on their Weibo page. Also, let’s not forget that December 25 is also Sun Jing’s birthday!

Merry Christmas, everyone! Hope your holidays have been great and may your 2020 be awesome.

Team Gaji and ‘What Does The Fox Say’ got me to love Taeyeon, Girls’ Generation, and K-Pop

Long time, no post. As this article is published, I bought my VIP standing ticket to watch Taeyeon’s “S…” Concert in Manila on December 14. It has broke ticket-selling records in the country as tickets were immediately sold out in 5 minutes.

So it has been a year since What Does The Fox Say ended. Sadly, its side-story sequel Paradise is still cancelled and there seem to be no word to when it will be back on the popular webtoon platform Lezhin Comics. Now you may ask why am I mentioning the popular webtoon in this post? Well believe it or not, What Does The Fox Say  and its creator Team Gaji (and Alggumba) got me to love the following: Girls Generation (SNSD), Taeyeon (the group’s leader), and K-Pop in general. 2016 was quite something for me because this was the same year that I got in these things all at once.

Alright people you would probably be having question marks on the top of your heads to why this one specific webtoon got me to love K-Pop. Here is the story:

Previously, I was a moderator of a Facebook group dedicated to this webtoon. One of the things that puzzled me was this thing that some yuri fans usually post pictures of the members of Girls’ Generation and compare them to the What Does The Fox Say characters Sumin, Sungji, and Seju. While some seemed to not really super accurate, one stood out and that was the group’s leader, Kim Taeyeon. I admit she does show some similarities with Sumin. Fans have been creating theories that Sumin was based from her and that the creators of the webtoon were SONES.

Years ago, Lezhin Comics also confirmed this fan theory too. (Note that the screenshot was posted before in Lezhin Comics’ Facebook page but was removed later on).

Other theories from fans claim that the whole What Does The Fox Say story is a fanfiction of TaengSic (Taeyeon x Jessica shipping). Before of the hype and success of the webtoon, Team Gaji created art and a small fan comic of Taeyeon and Jessica. Some however claim that WDTFS could be a TaeNy (Taeyeon x Tiffany) fanfiction but I’ll leave it to you guys.

Although all of this isn’t really like super confirmed, all this fan theories dragged me to a fandom that I’m not too familiar with which is K-Pop. My curiously lead me to listen to some songs of Girls’ Generation (as well as Taeyeon’s singles) and my love and appreciation for the Team Leader grew. If it weren’t for WDTFS, I wouldn’t have known this awesome group and wouldn’t go through heaven and hell just to see Taeyeon live. No regrets.  Also I want to give credit to my online friends (some of them I have already met personally) because they put into the right path of the fandom. I have witnessed a lot of drama and popcorn moments so I don’t really want to go there.

I can’t wait to see Queen Taeyeon next month. Aside from me, thousands of fans are really looking forward to see her in the flesh and serenade us with her powerful angelic voice. To those who are going, hope to see you there at the New Frontier Theater! I’ll be at VIP standing ;).

About What Does The Fox Say

What Does The Fox Say is a story of the intense love triangle of Sung Sumin, Ju Sungji, and Baek Seju. Sung Sumin is a Team Leader of Hello Studio, a company run by Baek Seju, her ex-girlfriend. Everything seemed to turn around for Sumin when the new recruit Ju Sungji came into the picture. You may read the series in Lezhin Comics.

WDTFS Thoughts – Why Dawoon Wasn’t a Useless Character

So What Does The Fox Say is over. This was in my drafts for so long so it doesn’t hurt publishing this now– and I think it’s kind of timely as well.

This feature may contain some spoilers. So if you are not updated with the latest chapters of WDTFS, you’ve been warned.
Who is Dawoon?

Kim Dawoon is the grey-haired girl that made her debut in WDTFS  Chapter 60. She is introduced in the chapter when she returned to Korea and meets with Sungji. They were able to catch up on things together since she had to leave the country for study.

What We Know So Far

Out of all the characters that appeared in this webcomic series, it was only Dawoon that was short-lived and never recurred. Here are a few things that we know about her:

She is a highschool friend of Sungji
Both Sungji and Dawoon knew each other since high school so technically Dawoon knows more about her than Sumin. The downside here is that the story implies that they no longer met anymore after high school graduation so the years of absence made them drift apart somehow.
Dawoon has feelings for Sungji for a long time

In a flashback, Dawoon have sort of confessed to Sungji but our favorite blonde never really gave her a proper answer. Even when Dawoon has returned from France and meets up with her again, she ended up with the same answer.

Dawoon had a girlfriend when she was in France named Camille. But even if they were together, the story implies that she keeps mentioning Sungji every now and then.

She wanted Sungji to be hers

Well, we can’t really blame her. She liked Sungji so it’s really normal for someone to pursue the person they liked whether there are risks involved in the beginning or end. It was obvious she wanted Sungji and she would do anything just to convince her to say yes.

A Threat To Team Blonde

When the series was still ongoing, one of the common comments I read is that Dawoon was only considered a filler character without any significance whatsoever. Regardless of that, it doesn’t hide the fact that she was a threat to the relationship of Team Blonde. In the previous chapters, Sumin and Sungji broke up. When Dawoon came into the picture, she was there to comfort Sungji and seems to portray as a better partner for her. She was willing to do anything to make her happy.

If you’re interested, you can read my reviews on these particular moments here and here.

She Wasn’t Useless

Okay, I admit that I admired Dawoon in appearance when I first saw her in the webtoon. She was a character that I really couldn’t take my eyes off and there is some mystery about her character as well. Although she got friendzoned in the end and never returned, she wasn’t really a useless character. Why? She was a wake-up call for Sumin that Sungji might be taken away from her.

Although I was a little disappointed with the lack of efforts made by Sumin to get her back, it made her realize what she have done and the possible threats that she would encounter especially when it comes to her relationship with Sungji.

She wasn’t useless because she did play an important part of Sungji’s life– and that’s being her highschool friend. She was one of the people that shaped the blonde girl’s childhood somehow. She was there for her back then when no one else did. That alone is something.

A Side-Story of Her Would Be Nice

While a lot of us are excited for the new “Seju side-story” series by Team Gaji (to be released in November), the possible thought of a Dawoon side-story is nice too. Like really– she was a short lived character leaving us a few questions in the end.

It would really be nice if Team Gaji would have some time in getting us to know about Dawoon because she is a mysterious, interesting, and probably the most friendzoned character ever in all the Lezhin GL webtoons combined. I am not  keeping my hopes up but having a few or a couple of chapters dedicated to her would be really interesting.

Although the chances of seeing her again is uncertain, I am quite happy that Dawoon made its way to the webtoon. It gave us a different view on things especially in the topics of love, being loved, and being friendzoned. Cheers to our noble grey knight.

Top 5 Lezhin Comics GL Series Worth Spending Your Coins On

As I am writing this article, my Facebook page has reached more than a thousand likes. I haven’t really thought of anything to celebrate this achievement so perhaps this feature might do the trick.

Lezhin What?

Lezhin Comics is a premiere webcomics service providing readers a wide array of series to read– from Boy’s Love, Girl’s Love, Mature, and more. Since last year, I was so glued to their GL webcomics, that I almost shifted my fandom devotion to these particular series.

After reading a couple of series found in their website, I was so intrigued and began to loyally follow their releases not only in English but also their Korean titles. The reason why I do the latter is because eventually, these series will be given official English translations later on.

Of course, not everything you get is for free. For you to enjoy and be updated with the latest series of Lezhin, you need to purchase Lezhin Coins which can be bought using real cash. If you’re on a tight budget, Lezhin Comics usually holds coin sales that would really give you good deals on coin purchase.

The Glory of Lezhin GL

I would admit this that Lezhin Comics has provided some very good GL webcomics that it’s entirely impossible for you to be left behind. Although I follow almost all of the English and Korean releases, I will be listing down my top 5 Lezhin Comics GL series worth spending your coins on. I am going to make this spoiler-free so that I wouldn’t ruin the fun. 😉

5. The Love Doctor by Chamsae and Bansook

The Love Doctor centers on Jung Erae, an ordinary girl who has problems in dealing with men or even dealing with relationships as a whole. She seeks help to a “Love Doctor” named Cha Yoon. As days go by, Erae slowly realizes that she is starting to develop feelings for her.

The Lily Cat says: I followed Love Doctor because of how nice the art is and Erae is cute. The story gets pretty good but tends to slow down its pace midway. Regardless, it’s still one good read if you are looking for a GL series that is not really much about drama most of the time.

4. What Does The Fox Say by Team Gaji

The Lily Cat says: Oh wow, how I start this? I cannot hide that this is my first webcomic I’ve read in Lezhin and pretty much the longest running GL series in the site. It has a huge international fanbase (which I can fully attest to this) and has published two volumes of their webcomic so far.

3. Pulse by Ratana Satis

The story of Pulse is centered on a surgeon named Mel who only sees sex as pleasure and love as a game. Everything seemed to have changed when she met a girl named Lynn who is fighting for her own life.

The Lily Cat says: When Pulse was released in Lezhin, I loved this more than WDTFS. The latter at that time wasn’t really going anywhere (not to mention so much sex), this webcomic will really take you away and the character development was just spot on. I have read Ratana’s works before and I know that this is definitely a series that is worth a read.

2. Moonlight Garden by Kang Unnie and MissPM

Moonlight Garden is set in a world where Flower Maidens in Moonlight Garden dominate and known to give sexual pleasures to those who desire them. In this series, a maiden named Dohwa is not yet “fully bloomed”. She crosses paths with Lady Hyewon, after she was found out stealing potions in order to get away from her sealed fate.

The Lily Cat says: I first encountered Moonlight Garden in its Korean release. The art and concept of this webcomic series instantly got me to follow it regardless if I don’t understand Korean much. The art has this unique traditional aesthetic which I really love and the characters are quite beautifully drawn and mysterious. I kept following the series and I was so happy that it finally had an official English translation and topped the GL series rankings in the Lezhin website.

Honorable Mentions

Now before I reveal my Number 1 Lezhin GL series, here are some honorable mentions (in no particular order)~

On a Leash by Aji

Serenade by Keum Kyesoo

Vengeance by Aji

Maison de Maid by Monnyang & Tarang

Lily Love by Ratana Satis

and my Top 1 best Lezhin GL Comic Series is….

1. The Third Party by Enjelicious

The Third Party is a story of two different women with difficult situations. Moon Hae Jin is a Producer-Director of GBS Studios who has done all she can to get on top. While a new girl in the office Gu Jeong Hui also holds a secret that only her can deal with it. When the two girls met, they had not only had to deal with their developing feelings for each other but also their little secrets.

The Lily Cat says: Anybody who has been online friends with me for long know that I’m so hooked and obsessed with this webcomic! The art is nice, the characters are just hard to ignore (well except Sang Hun pfft), and it would just leave you at the end of your seats. You maybe killed by the numerous cliffhangers of every chapter, but you will definitely wait again for next Monday to see what’s going to happen next. PD Moon is bae, fam.

What’s also nice about it is that this webcomic is made by a Filipino and it was the first winner of Lezhin’s 1st US Comic Contest. 20/10 will highly recommend this.

So these are my Top 5. Have a similar list or you want to share your fave Lezhin yuri as well? Leave it in the comments. With a lot of these series coming along, I’m pretty sure I will still hooked into the Lezhin GL webcomics for a very long time!

This Week in Yuri – January 23-29

Happy Chinese New Year!

This week has been pretty much good for the Yuri fandom. As a way to keep track on which series is getting most hype and all during the past week, I have created this simple segment called This Week in Yuri. Each post might contain some spoilers since I’ll be talking about each of the episodes and everything in between. I am basing this segment on the GL rankings from Lezhin Comics since majority of the GL series that people are following are from this popular premium webcomic service.

As of January 29 (4:00pm PH Standard Time), The Top 5 are:
1. What Does The Fox Say
2. Pulse
3. The Love Doctor
4. Everyday Lily
5. The Third Party

Great Ways To End the Month

I went back to my previous reviews on What Does The Fox Say and Pulse and I have to say the previous chapters were emotional roller-coasters. This week, I’m quite satisfied with the chapters due to right level of intensity that readers really want.

What Does The Fox Say this week was so intense (in a good way). Base on the current English chapter released, it seems that Team Blonde is sailing once again. In the Korean release, we finally got Seju again and slayed the chapter with her new look, fierce attitude, and her new car.

Pulse is going well in letting the readers be introduced with the new girl in the story, Sue. Sue for me is quite an interesting character since she holds some parts that would put together how Mel was in her past. With that said, I can’t wait how the next chapters will unfold and how Mel and Lynn will be able to conquer these obstacles together.

The Love Doctor is also one of the GL series that I didn’t have time to review on. With recent chapters getting good, I think I should also dedicate a bit of my time to write about this series as well. Erae and Cha Yoon are now canon and hope it goes well from here. But basing on the recent chapters released (Korean version), another drama roller coaster is unfolding.

I haven’t really talked about Everyday Lily here but this series is like a cooldown from all the intense ones that are out on Lezhin. The randomness is just right and that cliff-hanging recent chapter makes me want to know what’s next. If you are done with all your yuri and GL reading backlogs for the week, I highly recommend that you add this up to your reading list.

Okay now this would be the first time that I will be talking about The Third Party created by Filipino artist Enjelicious. First off, I’m so happy that someone from my homeland is having a weekly webcomic circulation on a popular webcomic service.

Aside from this, I’m quite impressed on how the story is going (although halfway of its first debut release chapters were draggy a bit) and I hope it continues to be interesting. During the past few days in this week, it was ranked at Number 1 but was replaced when recent chapters of Love Doctor, Pulse, and WDTFS were released. A great webcomic and I highly recommend it.

So that is my This Week in Yuri! Who knows what’s going to happen in the next one! 😀

What Does The Fox Say Double Review Treat! – Chapter 65 and Chapter 66

Finally after a couple of weeks of silence, I am back fueled with a lot of reviews to share. To make up with the lack of updates here in the blog, I decided to have a segment called The Triple Treat Three Series Review. Today I will be reviewing three yuri series in just one go starting with What Does The Fox Say.

What Does The Fox Say Chapter 65- A Cup of Americano and A Necktie

So in this chapter, we are first welcomed with a conversation with Sungji and Nami (God! How I missed this girl so much!). Our favorite blonde complimented her new hair only to find out it was actually hair extensions. So they had a heart to heart talk together which is mostly about Sumin and how Sungji is feeling. Nami admits that meeting up with her and Sumin would be really awkward now due to the break-up. Regardless of what is happening, Nami assures Sungji that if she needs someone to talk to, she can always call her.
We are then taken to Sumin’s room as she is packing up for her business trip to Japan. As she went through her stuff, she noticed a dark blue aesthetic designed necktie in the closet realizing that it was actually from Sungji. Due to the sudden find, she decided to rest in her bed with the necktie covering her eyes.
Fast forward to her flight, Sumin remains glued to her cellphone hoping that a certain someone would check up on her and leave a message. Her workmate Miss Bong noticed this and asked if she was okay. This was the first time that Sumin will be far away from Sungji and wonders if she will be okay as she will be away from Korea.
The plane finally took off and it seems that Sungji was able to see this as they went on a date together with Dawoon. In a coffee shop, Sungji ordered Americano coffee with 7 shots on impulse. This kind of startled Dawoon because Sungji was treating her.
In the last few panels of the chapter, Sumin and Miss Bong arrived in Japan safely and in their hotel room. Sumin had absolutely no interest in sightseeing because she rather be somewhere else but back in Korea to hopefully fix things.

First off, this chapter is kind of bland for me– nothing critical and fancy about it. The only thing that seems interesting here is Sungji’s conversation with Nami. In that part alone, it’s obvious that Sungji is still unsure if finally letting go of Sumin is the best for her or going out with Dawoon would be the best for her to move on. I also liked how Nami is still there for them despite her busy schedule and everything between Team Blonde is still a huge mess. I really love her hair in this chapter and I really wish she would really let her hairstyle stay that way.
Let’s go to Sumin. Despite her busyness in packing up for her official business trip to Japan, she still had the time to marvel and appreciate the necktie that Sungji bought for her. Also, she kept holding and looking at her cellphone to check if she will at least get one message from Sungji before the flight takes off.
Then to the Dawoon x Sungji date and coffee shop scene. Despite finally going out together, Dawoon still sensed that Sungji is still very distracted (well, you can help it because the break-up is still very fresh). The order of coffee was on impulse because if I remember correctly, this was the usual coffee Sumin orders.
Final Verdict

There’s nothing much to say about this chapter. Kind of good since the previous ones were emotionally triggering. This is a transition chapter to what’s about to unfold in the next one.
What would that be you ask? We can only find out.
For now, have a Coffee Americano (it’s also one of my usual orders in coffee shops too). 😀
What Does The Fox Say Chapter 66 – “You Love Her, but Only On Your Own”

. << I was honestly this close to not making a review for this chapter… But I guess I don’t have a choice.
So Dawoon and Sungji went to the movies together. Though they were on a date, Sungji is still having that blank face of hers as she remembers her sweet moments with Sumin in the same venue. Dawoon went a bit too demanding when she asked Sungji to hold her hand.
After the movies, they went to a cafe. Sungji was sitting alone in the table while Dawoon had a sudden phone call. Once she got back, she immediately told Sungji the good news that she got hired by the restaurant she applied for. Somehow, the blonde girl seemed pre-occupied to notice and make an effort to congratulate her. Dawoon dropped a bomb and asked if Sungji was still thinking about her ex. Their conversation then shifted about the movie they’ve watched.
The next few panels were more Sungji and Dawoon scenes which are happier and less awkward unlike the previous ones. In the certain panels of this chapter (and also in the previous one), Sumin seems to look like she is present while the two are having fun (this will be explained a bit later during the Review section).
Fast forward, Dawoon was with Sungji in her car. Our grey-haired knight enthusiastically told her that she will start work tomorrow. Finally focused, Sungji finally said her sincere congratulations. Dawoon smiled and she was happy to see Sungji smile ever since they started going out. Dawoon leaned closer to kiss Sungji. Aware that Sungji is still not ready to go intimate with her, she assured her to “give it a try first and think about it later”. As both of their lips touched, Sungji only imagines herself and Sumin kissing each other.
Meanwhile in Japan, Miss Bong and Sumin were busy going around the city. Our Team Leader stopped at a game machine which has a King Fox as the grand prize. With great determination, Sumin made a promise to herself that she will come back to that place in order to get it.
Now back to Sungji and Dawoon. Once again, Dawoon assures Sungji that she will “still wait a bit longer” until she is okay enough to start going out together. Sungji however, finally replied with a blunt sorry to indicate that this does not really work for her. Obviously hurt and realized that her high school friend was right, Dawoon told her that she might not be able to see each other again. Sungji told her that they will stay as friends as if nothing happened. Dawoon however admits that she can’t stay as friends because she sees Sungji as something more than that. The Grey knight leaves her and said her last goodbye with a broken heart.
Meanwhile in Hello Studio, Seju was answering a call which is related to the job applicants for the company. She then dropped the call and said to herself that “There’s nothing that’s going to change”. Upon leaving the place, she did not realize that someone was actually watching her earlier.

Oh wow, how do I even begin this review? Do I need to flip a table first?
This is technically a Dawoon x Sungji chapter with a VERY hurtful ending. Sungji imagining Sumin being there while she and Dawoon are dating is an obvious indication that she can’t move on yet and she obviously loves the Team Leader so much.
In my previous reviews, I admired Dawoon since her first appearance and I appreciated to how she was so devoted and caring for Sungji. This chapter however seemed to show us a side of her that is in the borderline of being desperate. It’s understandable that she loves Sungji, but she should at least not force her to do things her way. Her kissing Sungji in her car was one part of the chapter that I didn’t like for some reason. Yes, I’m “Team Grey” but I just didn’t like to how Dawoon is making everything so fast that it’s just making Sungji uncomfortable.
I can’t really tell if Seju is trying to get away from all this or still hanging on. I hope it’s the former– but I seriously had enough of seeing her getting stuck in predicaments caused by both her family and love problems. I hope she can finally make her own independent decisions without anybody standing her way.
I am starting to see a little of hope on Sumin. In this chapter, she makes an effort to get the King Fox as a gift for Sungji. Let’s hope that her efforts are really going to pay off in the end.
Then we go to Dawoon. I’m sorry but regardless if Dawoon was a bit rushing on her feelings towards Sungji, it’s just hurtful to see that someone you like never really liked or loved you the same way. If we put it in the context of Les Miserables, Sungji is like Marius, Sumin is Cosette, and Dawoon is Eponine. Though it never really showed, it was obvious that Dawoon was hurt in the end.
We may not know when we’ll be able to see her again, but I hope the rejection doesn’t trigger anything worse. I’m hopeful that they will be friends again in due time.
To end this review, I’ll leave this here in honor of brave Grey Knight, Kim Dawoon. RIP Team Grey (2016-2016).
So there you have it, folks! Two chapters in one pod. Stay updated on the site and the Facebook page for I will be reviewing Chapter 67 next! 🙂

What Does The Fox Say Chapter 64 Review – “Before I Let You Go, I Want to Say I Love You”

This is probably the most emotional and triggering chapter Team Gaji have ever concocted. Why you do this?! Like seriously. Spoilers ahead, guys. I don’t even know anymore.

The chapter begins with Sungji together with Dawoon inside her car. Our dear grey haired knight asked the blonde with concern if she was alright and not stressed out. Sungji told her a summary about what happened to her and Sumin in the office and about their break-up.

She was about to say something to Dawoon but she end up being silent and didn’t know what to utter. Dawoon gave our blonde a pat on the head and assured her that it’s alright. She suggested however that they should go out together for a week.

In the next panels, the reader is taken to a flashback of Sumin and Sungji taking selfies and the blonde appreciating the Team Leader’s aesthetics. Sumin, being older and experienced with relationships, finds it every awkward that women like Sungji enjoys taking a lot of pictures on their phone. The most notable statement by Sungji in this flashback is this: “At first, I was happy just by looking at you. But now I’m not sure how much I’ve come to like you even more.” She then ended her sentence with a kiss. This was also the moment when Sumin was already getting used to getting her picture taken or being in a selfie.

Back to the present panel, Sungji was going through cellphone pictures that have Sumin in them. After selecting one photo and was about to touch on ‘delete’, she then received a text message from Dawoon who was using a mobile text/chat app called chocotalk.

We are then taken to Sumin who was in her bed while Seju was in the room with her. Sumin has had enough of being angry with Seju and rather stays silent. Seju once again told her that she loves her still. However, Sumin finally dropped the bomb that they couldn’t start over anymore because they were cowards who couldn’t even end things properly.

I thought I was going to be immune with the Team Gaji emo effect— I was wrong after all. I wasn’t even suppose to write about this review because I cried and a depressive episode came crawling in again after reading. However, I promised myself that I will still write about this regardless if I’m emotionally stable or not.

The flashback just hit hard and it was something to remind the readers that Sungji really admired Sumin for who she is. Just imagine Kim liking Chris from Miss Saigon*– that kind of thing. The part also made us realize that Sumin did appreciate it in the end regardless if it was a bit awkward on her part.

The part when Sumin was talking to Seju in the room together didn’t really give much impact for me. The last few panels however, did. Just take a look at Seju’s face when Sumin said that they can no longer start over. It was like her yesterdays, todays, and tomorrows all went down the drain. Damn.

Though hurt, I guess it was the best that Sumin should do to stop the continuing chaos. It’s not for certain what’s going to be ahead for these two. We could only wait for the next chapter.

I also realized that this was the first time since Dawoon’s debut in the webtoon that I didn’t really worship or appreciated her a lot. I was more focused on Sungji and Sumin in this chapter to be honest and hoping that at least they’ll be together again. Sumin called off Seju in the last panels (though it was so painful to read that) so she might make the efforts of winning Sungji back.

I may have said this already in my previous reviews, but Sumin really has to pick up the pace because it wont be long before Dawoon would probably take over the blonde’s heart (it can happen).

For the record, I’m not siding on Dawoon on this chapter. I still like her though. How I wish the next chapter won’t be another slow down because if you remove the triggering stuff for a bit, you would realize this chapter is kind of boring a bit. Nevertheless, it was good chapter. Not too grand, not too bad. It did trigger me so I give Team Gaji point for that.

*- Sorry if I used this as an example since it’s the only close enough characters that I can think of. Aside from that, I also watched the 25th Anniversary performance of Miss Saigon in the cinemas last week so yeah, blame it on that.

Oh yeah, I never left songs in my reviews yet so I’ll just leave this here. This also inspired my title for this review. Quite fits the current chapter. Till the next review~!

What Does The Fox Say Chapter 63 Review – Now What? What Now? I Don’t Know!

Time for my most favorite part to write about in this simple site of mine. So here’s my What Does The Fox Say Chapter 63 review! Since I am a good person, you’ve been warned: S P O I L E R S!

The chapter begins with Sungji reminiscing her moments with Sumin in the office as she prepares herself for the worse between them. We still see a cowardly Sumin trying to avoid her as much as she can. (Seriously?)
Fast forward, Seju meets her brother in the hospital and finally snapped telling him that she doesn’t need to be caged by her family’s demands because they think it’s for the best. She then left after giving him a piece of her mind that she’s been keeping for quite a while.
Back in Hello Studio, Sungji wanted to go inside Sumin’s office to “thank her for everything”. Unfortunately (and as expected), the door is locked. She said her thanks at the door for she is aware that Sumin was inside listening. As much as both girls want to talk and sort this out face to face, the fear is just pushing them away. The most notable part in when Sungji asked this question: “Can love exist where you expect nothing in return?”. So deep.
It’s been an emotional ride for this webtoon lately and I have to be very honest here: I’m starting to get to used to these shifts that Team Gaji is laying on the tables for us.
While people are getting so triggered on this chapter because they can so relate to the words that Sungji told Sumin in the office scene, I wasn’t really affected by it. Very odd because I had a very hard time making a review on the previous chapters (especially Chapter 62). The question that Sungji asked to Sumin however was quite deep.
I mentioned in my previous review that Seju deserves to be independent and not be caged by anyone any longer: not Sumin, her family, or just about anybody. Seju slayed this chapter with that angry and fierce look and I’m just so happy that one of the things that I wanted for Seju just happened in this chapter.
Yes, I’m fully aware of the persistent rumors that Seju’s brother likes her romantically but I decided to brush this possibility off. The story is already too much to catch up and just adding this theory would just make it even confusing. I doubt if that’s true, anyway.
Expectations for Chapter 64

I haven’t done this kind of thing in my previous reviews so here are my possible expectations for Chapter 64:
  • Sumin will chase after Sungji. My God, she has to! As the chapter keeps moving forward, the more I’m losing my patience. Time is running out Sumin! It won’t be long until your beloved blonde might be out of your grasp for good.
  • Sungji meets up with Dawoon. I’ll just end my statement there. I have a lot of scenarios that would possibly happen so to be on the safe side (and not making this review very very long), I will just say that for now. Sungji meets up with Dawoon since they seemed to have agreed of meeting with each other after the previous chapter’s phone conversation.
Final Say

I have nothing much to say about this chapter. I think this proves that I’m finally immune to the “Team Gaji Emo Effect” now. As always, can’t wait for the next chapter. I need more Dawoon in my life.
Speaking of Dawoon, I will making another separate article about her and why I liked her in WDTFS. Will post it very soon.
I would also like to thank Susan Dinh for discussing this chapter with me. Without her help, this review wouldn’t be this detailed. Thanks Susan!

Happy (Belated) Birthday, Baek Seju!

A e s t h e t i c af

Yesterday was November 2. Aside from the observance of All Soul’s Day, it is also the birthday of our beloved “Pink Queen” from Team Gaji’s popular GL webtoon, What Does The Fox Say. So without further ado (and slightly late), Happy Birthday Seju! 생일 축하합니다 !

I know that I don’t really appreciate her in the same level as how I admire Dawoon, but I love Seju’s aesthetic. There is that vibe in her appearance which is hard to ignore as you read through the webtoon panels. Just who would ignore that aesthetic pink hair? No one!

Knowing that the webtoon is still ongoing, I do hope she will get the satisfying end that is best for her. The recent chapters have been a roller-coaster for us readers so I hope the future chapters will be something that wouldn’t get us to flip our tables. Though I miss the long haired Seju, it will take me a while to get used to her new hairstyle. New hair, new beginning I suppose.

The next WDTFS chapter will be released this November 8. Can’t wait!

While I was searching for ‘Baek Seju’, I stumbled upon this Wikipedia article of a Korean alcoholic beverage ‘Baekseju’. It’s a less popular drink due to its expensive price. Well, that’s something.
