Oh, where do I begin?

After a few months of absolutely nothing but cobwebs, I am back! Just barely. I am just fixing some stuff here and there to make sure the relaunch for this site is a great one.

I don’t want to get this into a long wall of text, but a lot of things have been happening with my personal life which has drained me emotionally, mentally, and financially. I have promised that the site will have regular updates sometime a few months ago, but due to some family-related problems, those pushed back.

I am still struggling from the recent hardship but hey, we come back stronger. I am not sure if I don’t have the funds to keep the site afloat until the end of the month so any amount of support is greatly appreciated. I only need around 18 USD this month. It’s the hosting that I pay monthly.

What Happens Next?

Well, as promised there’s some content going up in a couple of weeks. I have to rewrite a lot of them to edit the timeframes and update some info. But a few yuri reviews will be in here as well some feature articles that I have in mind of quite a while. Officially, the non-yuri stuff will be transferred over to Zenbu. The site is just an extension of this one so if you’re looking for my non-yuri anime, manga, and video game reviews, Zenbu would be the place to go.

So I guess that is all I can share for now. The site might go offline soon to make way for the major changes but I do appreciate yuri fans visiting the site from time to time. With the relaunch, I will do the best I can to provide the yuri and latest fandom news and reviews to you. Thank you so much. It means a lot. See you soon.

The Lily Cat at Five Years On

I wasn’t aware of the fact that this small site is now in its fifth year. This is something—almost half a decade of sharing things that matter to me.

A celebration deserves some cake!

I don’t want to go into a long wall of text, but I just want to say Thank you. Thank you for dropping by this site that has nothing but gayness, awesomeness, and randomness. And think that’s fine for me ^_^

I have some articles pilled up here soon as well as in my other site Zenbu. I’ll be watching the Winter Anime Releases so it’s going to be a fun ride from here!

Yuri reviews are also coming up and return. I also plan to venture into reviewing theater plays and Broadway musicals. Let me know in the comments what you think. I also hope that I will get to travel and just cover events again like before. I miss conventions a whole lot.

Anyways, cheers to more years for The Lily Cat. I would also like to thank my friends and fellow Yuri and GL bloggers and content creators I have made connected over the years for all the love and support. I will do my best to share this beautiful genre along with you guys.

Per aspera ad astra

Update: Back and Happy!

Hello! It’s been a while.

I know I promised a few things that are expected to launch here in The Lily Cat but unfortunately, personal stuff came in and I got involved in some projects at work.

I don’t want to make this long, but let me make this very clear—I’m back and happy!

So what’s going to happen next? Well, expect more Card Captor Sakura stuff on this site again. Plus, expect an article on What Does The Fox Say, some tips, and thoughts in between.

The site will be celebrating its anniversary next month. As of this writing, I still don’t have anything planned. But if ever something comes up, I’ll let you all know about it.

A lot of stuff happened since I was away, and I am very happy to be back all positive and hopeful. I’ll probably write about this soon (or in my podcast)… but please, stick around. More awesome stuff here in The Lily Cat very soon.

~

Aaaand since you are here, I would like to promote my fam, Yuri/GL Philippines. Please do join our community! Also, I have a passion project in the works with a few friends. So please do look forward to that as well.  Please stay safe and healthy.

[Site Update] The Lily Cat – Bringing You More!

2020 hasn’t been a good start for the world. However, I am happy enough to give you some little updates for this small site if ever you are a regular or someone new who just dropped by.

Since 2016, The Lily Cat has been my personal site to share news, reviews, and features to you. As days go by and more stuff that has been happening in both community and fandoms, it has reached the point that it has become a bit overwhelming and I just don’t know which ones should I write. A majority of my write-ups since the site’s first year are still in drafts and I am not even sure when I’ll be able to finish those.

When I was in Cebu, I had a roundtable discussion with some people and it went into something like “what is the main focus on my content?” I then told the person like The Lily Cat is a yuri blog. However, I was in Cebu to cover a cosplay event and it had absolutely nothing to do about Yuri in general. So I had those thoughts of slowly transferring some of my non-yuri content and other fandoms to another page.

After going through some things with my hosting provider, I am happy to share that I already have a subdomain for The Lily Cat’s “other content”. I cannot share much yet but look forward to it. I’m still ironing up some stuff before I can officially launch it.

However, if you are curious about what’s going to happen or be one of the first people to know about this project, you may consider supporting me through Ko-Fi or Patreon. Rest assured that any tier or donation would give you early access to what I’m working on behind the scenes (+ WIP features!). As always, the site will remain free to access for everyone.

From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank you, dear readers, for dropping by. I’m happy enough to share that I have gotten my life back little by little so expect a couple of contents here (and in the new project) very single week. In case you’re not aware, my Podcast episodes are now up on Spotify (I stopped uploading on YouTube due to copyright concerns).

The Lily Cat is back, my fam! Better than ever!

The Lily Cat Podcast Episode 3 – What happened?

Hello guys, long time no post.

After so long, a new podcast is up. Sadly, this ain’t a happy one. In this emotional podcast episode, I talk about what happened to me over the past couple of months and recently and what the future would be for the site.

If you love this episode, you may consider supporting me through my ko-fi page.  You can check the previous episodes here.

[Blog Update] Thank You for the Support!

Hello Everyone! This is Serena.

Just a day left before 2018 ends and I am still very thankful for the support in relation to the previous post that I made. The Ko-Fi donations were spent on the hosting fit for a couple of months. Rest assured that I am financially stable enough to pay for the other stuff. I’ll get by.  😉

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the following people who donated coffee to keep this site alive: Catalinal.r.hale, and Katestheo.

My ko-fi page is still active if you still wish to help me out on The Lily Cat and my other related projects. My plans for 2019 will be more on covering more Yuri/GL medium and review them. I want to get into reviewing yuri games. More weekly articles and updates. Also, I want to get more into covering the local convention scene here in the Philippines (and hopefully out of the country).

I also realized that that the site is now officially 3 years old! Wow, how time flies. After this realization, I’m more motivated to write more about the things I love for you guys.

If you wish to contact me for anything (collabs, sponsorships, just about anything), you are free to do so by emailing me at reitsukikage(at)gmail(dot)com.

Thank you so much for the three awesome years so far. Hope your 2019 will be as great as this year. 🙂

[Blog Update] Emergency Funding Needed

Hello this is Serena. Hope you had a good holiday.

As 2018 is nearing to a close, I was bombarded with a reminder from my host that this blog is set to expire soon. It was stupid of me to forgot about this and it have come to a realization that I don’t have any extra funds to pay for my blog’s hosting.

I thought I am confident enough to fund it but as time went on, I had more projects on my end which required me to spend on them. I know I have been very irregular with this blog. Active for the whole month then go inactive after then active again. However, I love sharing yuri news and reviews to you guys so I will continue to do this while I’m still capable to do so.

I am reaching out to this post again for your little support for the site by buying me a cup of coffee. Your help will definitely go a long way and I will continue to do my thing for the love of yuri and otaku culture as a whole.

For supporters, please email me (reitsukikage (at) gmail (dot) com) so I can say my thanks (and maybe I can help you in return). 🙂

Thank you and hope you have a Happy Holidays!

The Lily Cat Editorials – Announcement, Decisions, Life Changes, and Site Updates

Sooo… here’s another TLC – Editorials. Seriously, I don’t know how to start this. So anything goes from here~

I just got back writing again but I had to really slap myself for some reasons: my features for my Love and Pride Special weeks are delayed due to some personal matters (which I’ll discuss below). Regardless, I will continue to do the remaining three weeks. I made a promise to myself and my readers that I will be giving them some yuri features so I will give it all to them this month (hopefully I can get them all uploaded before mid-July).
Now you may ask… what happened?
My Office Job

Well, for starters I just resigned from my office job. Yes, you’ve read it right. I decided to quit my office job because I wanted more time to do the things that I want to do. Office life has starting to stress me out (hello crab mentality, hello office politics, hello gossiping people) and I thought I would survive it but failed. It then hit me that though I loved what I did there (my office job is quite awesome btw), I just don’t like the feeling of being in an environment that you are no longer comfortable anymore. So like any working person does, I wrote my resignation letter and too my leave. I went into a near emotional breakdown during my exit interview because I spilled all my four years of baggage while being there.
For the record, I didn’t hate the company I was working for. I just didn’t like the working environment and how everything went as years go by. I learned a lot there and it has helped gained enough experience for the future. Leaving was also the best decision for me because I had to do something with my mental health as well.
Unemployed But Happy

So to normal people’s (*cough* normie) eyes, I’m unemployed. Though in all honestly, it’s fine. I have more time to do the things I want to do: watch yuri (my backlogs are pouring), read my pending webtoons on my to-read list, and so on. I have been stress-free and that fact alone makes me happy. Now for the office job bit, I think this is all the basic info since I don’t want this post to be very long.
Next is I’m currently in a relationship and I consider my partner as one of my strengths to keep going. We are currently 5 months together as I am writing this post and I look forward to many more months and years. If it weren’t for my partner, I would have been stuck and being so emo of what’s been happening to me lately and in the past couple of months. My travels to Manila seem to have more meaning now. 🙂
Another thing is that I have been very active in the local Yuri community through Yuri/GL Philippines. I’m so thrilled that a lot of Philippine yuri and girl’s love fans finally found a home to just share and interact. We have also done a lot of things in the past couple of months and last year. Speaking of Yuri/GL PH, a big announcement will be posted here soon.
Site Upgrades and Support

The old banner

Next is I’m upgrading the site very soon. I’m aiming for a 2019 launch but I want to transfer everything to a new domain by 4th quarter for 2018. Domain and hosting costs are very expensive and I think my freelance and short-term project jobs aren’t enough to keep it afloat.

As much as I am looking for extra jobs to pay the hosting, I made a decision to open up a Ko-Fi page. I’m considering Patreon but I think it is still too much so I think Ko-Fi is fine. To those who don’t know what Ko-Fi is, it’s like Patreon or Indiegogo but you only donate to the content creator once ($3 USD via PayPal). It is your option if you want to give another one– imagine the platform like a small tip box.
Just to clear things out, all my futher blog posts are open and free to read to the public. No donation-exclusive stuff whatsoever (I’m too lazy to do these anyway lol).
Why Am I Upgrading the Site?

You may probably ask why am I upgrading The Lily Cat. The answer is simple: I want share more to you guys.
I want to share more anime and yuri news, reviews, and features without limitations. The site is currently operated under Blogspot and though it’s pretty simple to use, there are a lot of features which I want to put in there but it’s not available in Blogspot. If I have enough funds to pay for the hosting, I will be transferring the whole site to WordPress host. I know this will take time to transfer everything and getting Google-sempai to notice it to be up on the search results but I’m patient enough and I’ll find a way for it.
What to Expect in the Future

Seriously, I have so much stuff to share to you guys (a majority are in my drafts at the moment) and I can’t wait to share it with you. Expect more recent updates on the site (like every week or so) and if you check on my Ko-Fi page, you will see a small Goal portion. For every 20 USD goal I will get, I will be doing a Podcast episode while I will be sharing my opinions on things (mostly fandom stuff). This is a good thing for me since I wanted to practice my speaking skills and my confidence through this platform.
Expect more Yuri. I aimed this blog to be filled with Yuri-ness and this year, I’m going to make that happen. I love this fandom so much and I’m going to pour all my GL love here in the site.
A Better Looking Site. If I get enough, expect it to be better, faster, stronger more interactive.
Thank You

Okay this post is getting a bit long. So to end this, I would like to say my deepest thanks for stopping by. Although this is not as popular as the other yuri and otaku blogs out there, I do hope you enjoy the stuff I’m writing and sharing here. I’m open for comments and suggestions through the Facebook page or through Twitter. I’m thinking of opening a Discord server soon but I’ll let you know if there’s going to be.
Always remember: Life is Beautiful. You just need to know where your heart really belongs to.

Cheers everyone!

So it is Christmas~ Time to start anew~

Finally, Christmas. A time to be thankful of all the good things that have happened to you in the past and hoping for another fruitful new year as 2018 is now just a couple of days away.

The beginning of my 2017 was kind of  a bit stressful and I was faced with trials that I thought I cannot conquer. However, I am thankful to be connected with people online and offline who taught me to face it without fear. If my heart is true, then nothing can go wrong. I’m a very transparent person and after going though some storms, I ended up with a lot of abundant blessings. I have nothing else to do or even say but “thank you”. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I can never thank you enough.
2018 is another year. A year when new yuri-ish series will be releasing and other surprises are just in store for us. It’s understandable that things won’t be the same as before but that’s how life is– you keep moving and you have to: for yourself, for your well being, and for the future most importantly.
To be honest, there is a reason why I have been pretty much less active here lately is because of the opportunities that were given to me these past couple of months. I am currently working on websites dealing with the anime industry and those needed to be prioritized before the other stuff. Now that I know what I’m dealing with, I can pretty much schedule my stuff properly and have more focus. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to accomplish the things that I wanted to do in 2018! So expect more posts, more updates, and more randomness here in The Lily Cat!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank YOU, fellow reader. Without you, I would’ve just left this site inactive. It is the readers that motivate me to write what I love and I will continue to do so while I’m still able to. Let’s conquer 2018 together with our heads up high. A new book is opening and you are its author. It’s time to create another great story of your life.
I can’t wait to share more awesome Yuri, GL, and fandom-related stuff with you. Thank you so much. Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!

Oh wow how do I start this?

2016 was a year of ups and downs for me. Half of the year I was so motivated, inspired, and fearless,. Now all seemed to went downhill a bit but I’m doing everything I can to get back up again. Well, on one thing I’m still alive (hence this blog post hahaha).

Aside from being Christmas, the month of December marks The Lily Cat‘s first year. It has been amazing. Aside from writing yuri reviews and the related stuff here, I am also thankful to be acquainted with a lot of good people related to the Yuri fandom and community.

I don’t want to make this very long but regardless of the hurdles I had to go through, I’m still thankful for all the good things that happened this year and I hope the next year would be better. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you dear reader for dropping by every now and then into this little sanctuary as I share my spazz, thoughts, and viewpoints related to the things that I love and what you love.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

With love, The Lily Cat.
